Assembly Bill (AB) 1236, which amends the California Government Code Section 65850.7, requires that, on or before September 30, 2017, every city or county must adopt an expedited, streamlined permitting process for electric vehicle charging station. The purpose of the law is to further the State policy of promoting and encouraging the implementation of consistent statewide standards to achieve the timely and cost-effective installation of electric vehicle charging stations.
On November 22, 2016 the County of Orange Board of Supervisor adopted Ordinance No. 16-018 amending Orange County Municipal Code Section 7-1-25 regarding Permitting Procedures for electric vehicle charging stations.
