COMPREHENSIVE GENERAL PLAN UPDATE

The County of Orange is preparing a comprehensive update to its General Plan.

The General Plan represents an opportunity for a community to formulate a "vision" of what its residents would like to see in the future. The County of Orange is required by State law to have a legally adequate General Plan (Cal. Code § 65300 et seq.), which primarily addresses both unincorporated areas and the entire County. The visioning process extends beyond the basic statutory requirements to adopt a General Plan. The Plan must offer innovative and creative solutions for the future that are consistent with the fundamental goal of preserving and protecting the positive and enjoyable aspects of the County of Orange. The General Plan is considered “comprehensive” since it addresses all of the components that characterize the county.
